ARBOR DAY CEREMONY FRIDAY APRIL 27
On Friday, April 27 the Village of Cold Spring will hold it’s annual Arbor Day Ceremony with festive decorations and tree planting. The Tree Advisory Board will mark the occasion with the launch of a brand new self-guided Walking Tour of Cold Spring Street Trees. Special identification tags have been installed on select trees throughout the village and printed copies of the guide brochure, prepared by Horticultural Interpreter Charles Day and designed by Black Dash Studio, will be available at Village Hall, 85 Main St beginning on the morning of Arbor Day. The public is invited to meet on Friday April 27th at 4:00 PM at Village Hall, 85 Main St, to participate in a brief walk over part of the new Walking Tour route led by Tree Advisory Board members. The walk will end at the site of a ceremonial tree planting on the NW
corner of Northern Avenue and Garden Street, with local cub scouts and girl scouts, residents and village officials gathering to mark the occasion.
The annual marking of Arbor Day is part of the village’s commitment to improving the health and longevity of our public treescape. Cold Spring is proud to have been named a Tree City USA Community for the second straight year in a row by the Arbor Day Foundation. The program recognizes and encourages communities to initiate and carry out projects to improve on the often-challenging maintenance and planning of community trees. The status gives the village extra points on grant applications and connects municipal officials with expertise and resources to increase their commitment to urban forestry. This year, the village also received the Tree City Growth Award, an award which recognizes positive momentum and innovation among Tree City communities.

MARKET STREET PUMP STATION CONSTRUCTION
The VIllage Sewer Department announced today that Kings Capital Construction, contractor for the Project, has supplied a construction schedule which puts them onsite in the Village beginning Monday, April 2nd. The Project scope replaces the pump station near the Metro North Rail Road – Cold Spring Station, in its entirety.
During demolition and reconstruction of the station, traffic flow past the site will be one of the biggest challenges, as it is in the path of commuters of the Metro North Rail Road. While all steps are to be taken to not restrict access to the parking lot, there will be periodic interruptions in flow – and commuters are advised to allow extra time getting to their spot and not be late for the train. Substantial completion of the Project is Friday, April 27th, but could stretch into May, depending on the ability to restore pavement.
