Cold Spring NY to Take Part in NYSERDA’s Clean Heating and Cooling Communities Program

The New York State Energy and Research Development Authority (NYSERDA) in cooperation with the Village Board of Trustees will host an information-packed webinar on new heating and cooling technology that can save Village residents money and help combat climate change.

The webinar, part of NYSERDA's acclaimed Clean Heating & Cooling Program, brings together energy experts, contractors, homeowners, business leaders, and environmentalists to exchange information and learn about the latest advances in energy efficiency. The audience is invited to participate in a Q&A after the presentations.

Cold Spring Village Trustee Laura Bozzi will speak along with approximately nine experts in new, clean technologies. “We’re really excited to bring this clean energy program to Cold Spring because it focuses on two things our residents care about: heating and cooling costs and working together to address climate change,” said Bozzi in a recent interview.  Representatives from NYSERDA, NYSEG, and Central Hudson will answer questions about rebates that are available to convert to clean technology.

Recent technological advancements have changed the way buildings are heated and cooled. Heat pump technology, which transfers heat from the ground or the air, has become even more reliable and affordable. The technology presents the best opportunity to replace dirty oil and gas-burning boilers and furnaces with clean heating while also providing cooling in the summer.

Buildings with improved insulation and air sealing and clean heating and cooling systems are comfortable all year-round while lowering energy costs, reducing the building’s carbon footprint, and improving the neighborhood environment.

Trustee Bozzi added, “We’re pleased that the webinar includes several contractors who are busy installing this technology now in homes and businesses. So, there will be practical advice on how people can get started with these new systems.”

Kick-Off Workshop to Take Place on Zoom October 11 from 12noon – 1:30pm.  To register for the webinar, go to www.cleanheatingandcooling.energy
