GARBAGE & RECYCLING TRANSITION UPDATE 4/12/2022 

Thank you, neighbors, for your patience during the formal transition to Royal Carting for garbage and recycling service in the Village.  

On Saturday, garbage carts were delivered throughout the Village. The vast majority of deliveries were successful. There are some issues we are working to resolve with Royal currently. Most will resolve readily over the course of a few weeks. We are told by Royal that it is not unusual for there to be initial kinks while onboarding municipalities. 

Helpful Information: 

  • If you have not received a Royal garbage cart, or received an incorrect size, you can put out your garbage on in either your old personal can or the Royal cart you received until the issue is resolved.
  • If you need to changes sizes or need additional carts, please fill out a change form available at Village Hall or on the Village website here:  https://www.coldspringny.gov/sites/g/files/vyhlif416/f/uploads/carts_order_form.pdf
  • One garbage cart and one recycling cart are being provided to each tax parcel. Property owners who are landlords need to purchase additional bins for their commercial and residential tenants—the rate reflects an approximate discount of 40% off market rate. Again, please use the form above.  
  • Recycling bins--clearly labeled and with different lids--will be delivered this coming Saturday, 4/16

As you know, the move to private carting has been in process for quite some time. You can revisit public discussions and documentation on our website and on the Village’s YouTube channel. 

Change isn’t always easy in our Village. With patience and cooperation in the coming week, we are confident that you’ll agree that this change is a good thing for our Village.
